What to bring

"More than a fishing trip. With Geoff you're not a client, you're a friend. The highlight of the trip wasn't the fish, although it was great. The wonderful exposure to history, the fishing industry, a You can't beat the excitement of fishing Yakutat, Alaska.... see what some of our guests have to say.little geology, a little philosophy, and last, a concern for the resource as presented by Geoff made our trip tops. The weather was perfect, the place is so rich in scenery you could eat it with a knife, fry it up with the halibut, and eat the whole thing and never get tired of the meal. I can see why people want to live here. I recommend Geoff's company highly, and he might just get you into some fish. Great job Geoff, thanks!" C.W. Omak, Washington

Hubbard Glacier in Disenchantment Bay near Yakutat, Alaska is the largest North American tide water glacier.
Hubbard Glacier is over 75 miles long and is the largest North American tide water glacier. It is over 6 miles wide and almost 500 feet high. In May 1986, it surged over 47 feet in one day closing off the mouth of Russell Fjord, creating Russell Lake, the world's largest glacial lake. Marine mammals were trapped by the new lake as it filled higher and higher with water. People in Yakutat watched with concern as the water level rose because there was the danger of the Situk River flooding if the water continued to rise. In October the dam broke free with an estimated 5.3 billion cubic meters of water, freeing the wildlife and saving Yakutat.

Nice Salmon! We'll spend 6 hours cruising the beautiful glacial waters of Disenchantment Bay viewing the wildlife that is abundant, the icebergs floating out to sea, and the eagles soaring above. This will be a day to remember so don't forget to bring your camera and plenty of film.

"Geoff - Thanks so much for the day of fishing. The fishing was great with limits around - beautiful fish. Halibut and Ling cod. For those of you who don't get clear weather, the views are spectacular! It was fun to see the whales on their way north and talk about the fishery. Ask Geoff about this area, he's full of stories and information. Great sense of humor too. Thank you, I'll see you again." C.W Tacoma, Washington

"Geoff lied to us--it took almost a half hour before he got us into halibut--wonderful day of fishing. Limited out on halibut in another 90 minutes and then were able to troll for kings and got a nice, bright, large, king too. Typical Yakutat weather -- a little of everything, (sun, wind, calm, hail, overcast all in one day). The local flavor and conversation with Geoff was a real bonus." P.S. Anchorage, Alaska
